Silly title,I know, unfortunately people, this is one post describing how much I despise some people here as well as disagreeing with other people's point of view.
Well, honestly I'm forgetting what I'm supposed to say....umm I'll just start with chemistry. We did our test on wine today, and it involves comparing amount of sugar levels on a bottle of Yellowtail(brand name) and some cheap wine.We also need to test with water as a "control" or something like that. Here's the procedure(A VERY LONG ONE.Probably good for general knowledge)
Rebelein Soultion Z1
Add 1.0ml of concentrated sulphuric acid to 600ml of distilled water and mix thoroughly.Weigh 41.92g accurately of copper sulphate pentahydrate CuSO4.5H2O.Dissolve copper sulphate in the acid solution, transfer it to a 1L flask and dilute to volume with distilled water.Mix well
Wow,sounds complicated, thankfully,we don't need to waste too much times to do it as the teachers prepared it for our group(awwwww...).5 more!!
Rebelein Solution Z2
Dissolve 250g of sodium potassium tartrate in about 600ml distilled water.Add 80g of NaOH(Caution:Heat generated!!!)[Awesome XD Must try this at home LOL].Allow it to cool, transfer it to a 1L flask and make to volume with distilled water.Mix well.
Rebelein Solution Z3
Add 100ml of 1M NaOH(Dang, they're trying to kill us...) to 600ml of water and mix.Weigh 300g of potassium iodide.Dissolve it in a portion of the base solution, and transfer to a 1L flask.Same thing from here onwards...
Rebelein Solution Z4(If you're bored,scroll down because there's Z5 and 6 left)
Add 175 ml of concentrated sulphuic acid to around 825ml of cold distilled water.(Caution!Heat evolved)[Sweet XD].Mix well and allow it to cool.
Rebelein Soultion Z5
20g of potassium iodide and 10g starch in separate beakers.Add 10l of 1M NaOH to 500ml of distilled water and mix well.Use the resulting solution to dissolve both potassium iodide and starch in separate beakers.Transfer both to a 1L volumetric flask.Dilute to volume with water and mix well.
Rebelein Solution Z6(I'm getting dizzy,is it Ribena?I'm thristy XD)
Weigh 13.78g of sodium thiosulphate Na2S2O3.5H2O and dissolve in distilled water.Transfer to 1L flask and add 50ml of 1M NaOH.Dilute to volume and mix well.
Phew,long ones XD.Here's the procedure(shortened)
-Pipette 10ml Z1 and 5ml Z2 into Erlenmeyer flask
-Pipette 2ml wine sample(in another one,use water as ragent blank)
-Heat until boiling and allow it to do so for 30 seconds.Remove flask and allow to cool to room temp
-Add 10ml each of Z3-Z5 in order
-Fill burette with Z6
-Record initial reading
-Titrate the mixture in flask, shaking it well to mix
-Endpoint is cream.Solution will fade from yellowish-brown to blue-grey to cream
-Record final reading
-In water, blank titre should be in the range of 29-31ml,wine will be less
-Calculate reducing sugar content using the formule below:
Dilution factor x Blank titre - Sample titre
Well,that's all!For the chem XD
Now,here's a short one.Got a call from dad on his birthday and he was like:"How's tennis going? You must kill the opponent,no mercy.Just get in there and kill."
Ok,here comes the typical me(didn't actually say this to him,but if I were to do so,it would be these words.Didin't bother to listen any more after his words because they're plain annoying)
"Why are you so obsessed with the word kill anyway??!!It's such a disgusting word. Can't you just use "beat" or "defeat"(which I still consider overboard). If you want your own words to be used, here:I "killed" you for many consecutive occasions and you never played me for 3-4 years until now.Everytime I was "killing" you(meaning I was 4-1 up),you just conceded. How cowardly....."
Extra harsh. But that's not the point. The point is I believe sportsmanship comes first before the game.I mean, seriously,"kill"?Dad,the reason you failed is because you're lacking sportmanship. And I probably lack a lot of that as well.HOWEVER,an opponent should be respected,no matter how good or bad they are.Of course, sometimes the rules of the games are changed due to personal feuds, but on other occasions it should be taken moderately, not too light, not too serious.
If you(not the readers) haven't noticed yet, take a look at the following tennis players:Federer,Nadal,Hewitt,Laver,Sampras,Becker,Agassi,EVEN McEnroe(he had to have it somewhere in his career, otherwise he wouldn't be in the commentary box),all the legends, all the players(mainly successful ones),they HAVE sportsmanship. That's what makes them a better player.Look at the press conferences,do they lampoon(right word?)their foes and do some trash talk?So far in my life,I haven't seen any. It's generally assessing their performances, praising their opponents and showing respect to their next matchup. It's not some madman trying to hypnotize them into "machines",they just know about it.They train hard simply because they enjoy the game, and retire when they don't feel the love for it or got too old.Even after that they can't stay out of the game completely. One way or another they'll be in touch with it.
What makes you win isn't how good you play,it's how much you love it,not the desire to win,but the joy of just getting on court in a tournament, holding a racket and playing a match without really caring about the things going on around you.I haven't really reach that way yet,I don't know why.I don't want to point the finger on anyone, but I think it's time I should tell my parents to back off a little bit, give me some space to breathe in and not telling me anything and just let me go about on my own on court. As far as I'm concerned,I don't like courtside coaching and you're not the one playing.
This saturday's the first GPS match at home against some school from Toowoomba. My back isn't ecovering as fast as I wanted it to be.Oh well, might as well play on for 5 days straight culminating on saturday.Ain't no harm in playing that much right?I mean,I did 11 days straight, why can't I go for more?
O.O Getting late, tomorrow's day 1 of 5 day marathon tennis for me.Gotta sleep.Lots of love to everyone and good luck in your trials.
Love you all always
Georgie
